CAMP HOUSE CONCERTS – On August 25th, 2018, the Camp House Concerts’ venue, with the members of the 65 & Sides Society, will host the Hotter Than Hell, Summer Ending Concert.  The 2018 Summer Concert is proudly presented by Hayden Homestead Co.

The end of Summer marks the beginning of a busy calendar for most people with school, work and of course, Friday night football.  Therefore, this concert aims to bring fans together for one last hoo-rah despite the heat!

The night will feature a power packed lineup that includes the duo of Wayworn Traveler and their performances of original work and classic covers.  The bill also includes the Logan Ryan Band and their full-band set.   The third set will be the song-swappin’ session between the talented songwriters, Emily Shirley and Jana Pochop.   The headlining act of the night will be the Manzy Lowry Band, who will close out the evening.  Dinner will be served during the second and third set.

Gates will open at 3:00pm with the music beginning at 4:30pm.  Dinner will be served around 6:00pm-8:00pm.  The music is expected to close out around 11:00 or 11:30pm.

PERFORMER PROFILES

WAYWORN TRAVELER

Salado, Texas's very own, playing original songs in an old school style with a modern twist!

Formed in 2014 by two of Salado’s own, Wayworn Traveler consists of Bryan Smith on guitar and vocals, and Angela Kay Smith on mandolin and vocals.  Wayworn Traveler prides themselves on their original compositions and wide array of cover tunes ranging from early bluegrass, folk, true country, to 70’s and 80’s rock and pop.

In 2012, Angela moved back to Salado from Stockdale, TX.  She would meet Bryan and they would soon become involved in music together, later to become husband and wife, musically blending the many sounds and influences of the wide range of artist held so dear by each.  A musical journey of songwriting, and performing would lead them down the road they are now taking.

Visit Wayworn Traveler’s Facebook page for more information.

LOGAN RYAN BAND

Deep in the heart of South Central Texas comes one of the hottest new names to hit the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene.  The Logan Ryan Band is equipped with honest lyrics, authentic vocals and a crying fiddler that when put together, it makes the Texas Music gods smile.

The LRB released their first single, Buenos Noches, back in February of 2017, which was followed up by another single, Easier Said Than Done, that was released earlier in 2018.  They are currently working on a full-length album.

The LRB is led by front-man Logan Ryan Skloss, who is also from the San Antonio area.  He says his father had an impact on his love for music as he is a country music & karaoke DJ.  Skloss’s artistry was sculpted by being raised around those smoke-filled honky-tonks, & classic country. After he got his first guitar at the age of 9, he began to discover his own unique sound and style.

When Skloss gets behind the microphone, you can tell his words are genuine and coming straight from the heart as he tells a story through lyrics.  Whether it’s the upbeat tempo in Buenos Noches or the soft bellowing you hear on Easier Said Than Done, it’s honest music that makes you want to continually listen.

Logan has that Texas Twang in his voice you’d expect to hear out of a south Texas kid.  Follow the rising stars of the LRB by visiting LoganRyanBand.com

EMILY SHIRLEY | SONG-SWAP WITH JANA POCHOP

Emily Shirley’s brand of thoughtful songwriter pop/rock is as finely tuned and brightly colored as the graphic design projects she works on for her day gig.

Courage Up, her 2018 release, now available as a limited-edition disc, is a genre-bending hybrid of indie-pop melodies woven over thoughtful, grounded lyrics and continues Shirley’s presence as a vibrant writer who has come into her own in the Austin, Texas scene.

Shirley tells life stories through song, revealing interesting characters and settings in a way that the listener still finds relatable.  From the “Dolores,” an exploration into the point of view of an accused killer’s mother (inspired by Netflix’s Making a Murderer documentary series) to “Over the Fence” which perfectly encapsulates the bittersweet innocence of a first friendship, her artistic point of view and skillful sonic experimentation make for a varied and stirring repertoire.

Shirley performs in and around Austin with her own band, and as part of The Big Fix and The Belle Sounds.  For more information on the multi-talented Emily Shirley, visit EmilyShirley.com.

JANA POCHOP SONG-SWAP WITH EMILY SHIRLEY

Jana Pochop (the ‘h’ is silent) hails from the culturally rich Albuquerque, NM, and she began her vastly diverse career as an independent singer-songwriter when, as a child, she asked for a drum kit and her parents got her a guitar instead.

Jana's recordings combine her gifts; lyrics that are as fearless as they are vulnerable, as skeptical as they are hopeful – woven into beautiful and fully fleshed arrangements; they affirm that she’s got one foot firmly planted in the grassy-rootsy folk genre while the other stomps around the pop world like a boss.

Her instinct for deep grooves and poignant lyrics are obvious on her most recent musical offerings, "Money & Heart" and “Lightning,” singles released in 2017, and her 2014 EP Throats Are Quarries.

Jana has allied with many of the central Texas music makers like Terri Hendrix, Susan Gibson, and Kiya Heartwood.  She has gotten a lot of ‘in the field’ experience by traveling with Gibson as agent / tour manager / documentarian over their 8 years of working together, and Jana has toured everywhere from Seattle to Sweden with Gibson.

In 2016, Pochop joined Kiya Heartwood’s band on electric guitar and toured Ireland and the U.K., playing Fringe Festivals in Edinburgh and The Isle of Wight.  She performs in Texas and beyond as part of the songwriter pop trio The Homeslippers as well as solo.

Stay up to date to find out where in the world Jana Pochop is by visiting JanaPochop.com.

MANZY LOWRY BAND

Manzy Lowry was born in west Texas but has called many places home across the southwest. Consequently, his music is a combination of familiar sounds that cannot be made to fit neatly into one genre.

Manzy's musical influences began with his grandmother's love for the folk and hymns along with his brother's love for rock and roll with a blues flair.  In college, Manzy was introduced to the sounds of The Band, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Petty, and Jason Boland.  Inspired, he picked up a guitar and soon began playing, writing, and performing.

Lowry is now known for his original ballads that are rough around the edges and dusty like an old book left on the shelf.  His stories can paint pictures that transport your mind to a particular place in time.  Manzy's compositions are unique and authentic even if that means going against popular demand.  The result: a sound that you didn't know you were missing.

Manzy has opened for popular bands including Billy Jo Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Dean Dillon, Hayes Carll, Corb Lund, Shane Smith and the Saints.

Lowry has released two albums since 2012.  His third album, “Warm Wine” was produced and recorded by David Beck at Fast Horse Studios and recently hit shelves wherever music is sold or streamed!

Faced with the difficulty of categorizing his own music, Manzy asks that you give a listen and decide for yourself.  For more information on Manzy Lowry, visit ManzyLowry.com.
