A list of Country Music Festivals held in Texas.  From Austin to Luckenbach, we've got you covered!  There are over 23 Festivals are on this list!  Updated for the 2018 music festival season.

There are many that have passed but this is a great reference for future planning.  Stay tuned for updates and lineups that will be announced in the near future!

South by Southwest (SXSW)

CITY:  Austin, TX
DATE:  March 9th - 17th, 2019
2017 Headliners:  Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum, Wu-Tang Clan, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Jimmy Eat World

The SXSW Music Festival is an iconic global music industry event taking place every March in Austin, Texas.  SXSW delivers the best in music, newest in film all over the host city of Austin.  For example, in 2017 they had 2,085 Showcasing Artists,  320 Panels, Workshops & Sessions,  104 Venues & Stages.

Fun Fact:  "Baby Driver" & "The Disaster Artist" both premiered at SXSW in 2017.

Outlaws & Legends Music Festival

CITY:  Abilene, TX
DATE:  March 23rd - 24th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Dwight Yoakam, Reckless Kelly, & Ray Wylie Hubbard

The Outlaws & Legends Music Festival sets the bar for ALL other festivals.  The sound, the crew, the hospitality, the audience, the staff are all stellar, first-class cool.  It is now my favorite.  Attendance in 2017 was over 8,000!

Waltstock & Barrel Wine & Music Festival

CITY:  Fredricksburg, TX
DATE:  April 6th - 7th, 2018

2018 was the 2nd annual festival and you wouldn't know it by the size of the crowds!  What a great festival in the hill country of Fredricksburg, TX!

Chilifest

CITY:  Snook, TX
DATE:  April 5th - 6th, 2019
Previous Headliners:  Hank Williams Jr., Gary Allan, Ryan Bingham, & Turnpike Troubadours 

Just outside of College Station, home of Texas A&M University, this is one of our favorite festivals on the list!  Thousands of students come together and celebrate the last stretch of the school year.  There is very little chili to be found but plenty of mud, boots and of course, beer!  People can camp out overnight or attend by day.

Old Settler's Music Fest

CITY:  Tilmon, TX
DATE:  April 19th - 22nd, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Shakey Graves, Shiny Ribs, Bob Schneider, & Wade Bowen

A good ole Folk Festival in Tilmon, TX features the best in Americana & Roots since 1987.  Camping, Arts & Crafts, Kids Activities and more!

Texas Crawfish & Music Festival

CITY:  Old Town Spring, TX
DATE:  April 28th - 29th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Kyle Park, Sundance Head, Jack Nelson Band, Bradley Banning

This smaller festival has been going on for over 30 years.  And after those 30 years, it seems that they have gotten it right!  What could be better than Crawfish and Music?  We are looking forward to attending this festival in the future!

Larry Joe Taylor Fest (LJT)

CITY:  Stephenville, TX
DATE:  April 23rd - 28th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Roger Creager, Stoney LaRue, Aaron Watson, Reckless Kelly, Larry Joe Taylor

If you haven't been then you have not done a true Texas Country Music Festival!  LJT is by far the wildest, most redneck festival on this list.  Camping out for 5 nights in the mud and beer changes a person!  LJT is in the same city as Tarelton University, so expect college kids!

iHeartRadio Country Music Festival

CITY:  Austin, TX
DATE:  May 5th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Brett Young, Danielle Bradbery, Dylan Scott, Luke Combs, and Ben Rue

The free, outdoor event drew a large crowd outside of the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas as an amazing lineup of country music's budding stars performed some amazing sets on stage.

Off The Rails Country Music Festival

CITY:  Frisco, TX
DATE:  May 6th - 7th, 2018

This country music festival is held in the Toyota Center in Frisco, TX!

Cherokee Creek Country Music Festival

CITY:  Cherokee, TX
DATE:  May 18th - 19th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Reckless Kelly, Mat Kearney, Eric Hutchinson

The Cherokee Creek Music Festival was formed in 2007 and is an annual non-profit event created to raise money for children’s charities.  To date, we've raised over $2 million dollars and we've only just begun.

Lone Star Jam Music Festival

CITY:  Austin, TX
DATE:  May 26th - 27th, 2018
Previous Headliners: Gary Allan, Randy Rogers Band, Kody West, Drugstore Gypsies, Stoney LaRue, Reckless Kelly, Kevin Fowler, Casey Donahew

2 Days, 2 Stages and 20 Bands.  This festival has all of the Texas Country Music stars in the lineup and is becoming a notable festival across the nation!

Kerrville Folk Festival

CITY:  Kerrville, TX
DATE:  May 24th - June 10th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Ray Bonneville, Sam Baker, The Peterson Brothers, Drew Kennedy, Susan Gibson, Ordinary Elephant

The Kerrville Folk Festival is produced by the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation.  It is 18 days and nights featuring national and international performing songwriters in intimate musical performances.  The Festival is held at the Quiet Valley Ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just 9 miles south of Kerrville.   The ranch is a one hour drive from the San Antonio and a two-hour drive from Austin.   The Festival is celebrated by a community who considers itself family, and we are always delighted to welcome new folks!

Thomas Michael Riley's Festival

CITY:  Luckenback, TX
DATE:  June 8th - 9th, 2018

"Let's go to Luckenbach Texas" - Anytime there is music to be had in the small town of Luckenbach, TX, you should make an attempt to attend.  The festival has live music on 2 stages, RV Camping, Chicken S#!t Bingo, Campfire Pickin' and much more...

Texas Folk Life Festival

CITY:  San Antonio, TX
DATE:  June 8th - 10th, 2018
Previous Headliners:  Max Stalling, Blacktop Gypsy, and Thomas Michael Riley

This is not like the other Music Festivals as it is more like a cultural festival!  Located on the grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures on the UTSA Hemisfair Campus, the three-day event showcases the Lone Star State’s diversity and rich heritage through a wide variety of ethnic food, music, dance, arts, and crafts.

Mark your calendars for July 4th, 2018. The lineup for Willie Nelson's iconic 4th of July Picnic has been set! Willie will be returning to Circuit of the Americas racetrack outside Austin, Texas, for the 45th running of the picnic.  Willie's picnic has always been known to have a star-studded lineup.

Kickin' For A Kure

CITY:  San Antonio, TX

Kickin' For A Kure started in the small town of Falls City, TX 8 years ago and has grown to be an epic music festival.  The bigger picture here, they have raised over $400,000 for research regarding Leukemia and Lymphoma.  This festival has the look and feel of a small town hoo-rah!

ZiegenBock Music Festival

CITY:  Houston, TX
DATE:  September 29th, 2018

The 16th annual ZiegenBock Music Festival will be held once again at the Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, TX.  3 stages of music all day long!  This music festival has been growing ever since it used to be in the small town of Bryan, TX.  A must see event!  Tickets start as low as $20.

Tommy Alverson's Family Gathering

CITY:  Mineral Wells, TX
DATE:  October 1st - 3rd, 2018

This family gathering is full of camping, reacquainting with or making new friends, munching on some tasty food, and sitting in a lawn chair drinking beer and listening to some outstanding music from over 30 bands and singer songwriters.  Don’t miss Tommy Alverson’s Annual Family Gathering in Mineral Wells!

Bootfest

CITY:  Victoria, TX
DATE:  October 5th - 6th, 2018
Headliners:  2018 Lineup TBD

Victoria's largest free festival.  Bootfest is open to the public and admission is free.  Beer and margaritas are available for adults and nearly one hundred merchandise and food vendors are open for business during the entire event.  Bootfest attracts tens of thousands of festival goers each summer with western themed events perfect for couples, families and groups.  Full of live music and even a Car, Truck & Motorcycle show.

Austin City Limits

CITY:  Austin, TX
DATE:  October 5th - 7th & October 12th - 14th, 2018
Headliners:  Paul McCartney, Metallica, Artic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, Travis Scott

 

This is not a Country Music Festival but it is one of the most renowned music festivals in the state of Texas - so it made the list!  ACL Festival features a diverse lineup of acts every year with 8 stages, more than 125 performances – and best of all, two weekends.

Utopia Fest

CITY:  Burnet, TX
DATE:  November 2nd - 4th, 2018
Headliners:  Lukas Nelson, Patty Griffin, Grandmaster Flash

This is a fantastic music festival!  More on the side of a Folk/Americana music festival in the big city of Burnet, TX.  This concert has been on our bucket list for awhile now.  This year it is the 10th anniversary of this event.

Fischer Fest

CITY:  Fischer, TX
DATE:  November 9th - 11th, 2018
Headliners:  Della Mae, The Red River Songwriters, Bill Kirchen, Doug Moreland

This is a music festival that is up and coming!  Keep an eye out for this festival in the years to come!
